This Year the Bookmark Was Laminated: 2012

During our first full year together, I started reading more book reviews and visiting book club websites. I joined Goodreads in 2012 and began writing short reviews of the books I’d read with the club or on my own, mostly to remind myself about the books. We were getting more of a sense of the mix  of books we wanted on our list. To get just a little fancier, I laminated the book mark, and at the end of the year I made Christmas tree ornaments, a tiny little replica of the book each of the girls hosted.

The 2012 roster was as seen below.

Fifth Business by Robertson Davies

Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

The Adventures of Augie March by Saul Bellow

Twilight Sleep by Edith Wharton

Something From the Oven by Laura Shapiro

Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese

Wench by Dolen Perkins-Valdez

Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

Travels With Charley by John Steinbeck

The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

The Tiger’s Wife by Tea Obreht
